Job description:
Work in a small infrastructure group that supports the India engineering design center in a fast pace, rewarding organization. Key responsibilities are to manage the UNIX desktops and servers, to manage the enterprise monitoring solutions on Windows server platform, and to perform basic storage administration. Must be willing to learn other areas besides UNIX or storage administration. Must be flexible to be back up for other team members such as network engineer, Windows system administrator, or Windows desktop support.
Key responsibilities:
• Manage UNIX desktops and servers including basic storage administration
• Manage monitoring software and servers to monitor performance, events, and availability of services, including configuration, upgrades, reporting, responding to alerts, etc.
• Write scripts to automate work
• Use server automation tools to maintain system consistency across the enterprise
• Install and configure new hardware and software.
• DNS, DHCP, NIS administration
• Responsibility for documenting the configuration of the system.
• Troubleshoot any reported problems.
• Work on service calls
• Assist UNIX/Monitoring System Administrator Lead and Storage Administrator on projects and tasks such as testing new Linux operating systems, upgrades, evaluations, monitoring work, etc.
Qualifications:
• College graduate with computer science, MIS, or engineering degree highly desirable.
• Minimum 5 years experience with Unix server administration
• Have experience in performance management, monitoring systems, and concepts
• Be able to produce documentation in Microsoft Office and Visio
• Self motivated and follows through with tasks and commitments
• Be able to effectively work under stress
• Be flexible and versatile
• Have good communication skills in the English language (written and oral)
